And for a little history on Lauae ....read on!
I grew up with a lot of cousins...in fact, I can attribute a lot of the inspiration for tombomb to my family...my mom, and pretty much all of my girl cousins, were shining tombomb examples. But the Murphy girls are the best... When we first moved back to Hawai'i, I was 10, pasty and chubby...and when I met the Murphy girls, I knew what I wanted to be like. Naui, the oldest was slight and elegant, poised and incredibly nice...but with a hint of her dad's dry humor. Ka'iulani, the 2nd oldest, was the fairest and looked the most like her dad, sharp lovely features and a strong lean build. She was a good athlete, and I loved to run into her on the soccer field. Lauae, the 3rd, was gorgeous, luscious, luminous, beautiful and kolohe to boot. She was the wildcard, full of life and laughter. And Kawehi, the baby, always seemed quiet and easy, beautiful and graceful. I've never gotten to spend a ton of time with them, but when we do see eachother at family parties, luaus or Christmas shopping, I always feel like we would have made great friends even if we weren't cousins. And they're famous...any time I mention one of them, somebody professes their love for at least one of the Murphy girls. How could you blame them, each of the Murphy girls is gorgeous beyond compare, warm and loving, whip-smart and funny. On top of that...they're tough. Ka'iulani was one of the youngest navigators to cross the Pacific aboard Hokule'a. If that's not impressive...I don't know what is. So let's make sure we keep them all here...and make sure the newest Murphy girl, Halialoha, keeps her shining tombomb example in the healthy, loving form of her mother Lauae.
